Blog Instructions for Siddhartha--by Hermann Hesse

Hello!  Welcome to your IB English Blog!  This year, instead of writing journals in your composition book, you will be posting your brilliant analysis of literature to our class blog.  For our first work, Siddhartha, your assignment is as follows:

1. Initiate TWO posts which include: a passage and a detailed analysis of the passage. Include your thoughts, refer specifically to the text, and pose any questions you might have to the group.

2. Respond critically to TWO of your classmates' posts.  Refer specifically to the posted text, answer questions, pose other questions, etc.

3. Heed the following directions:

a) use clear and precise language
b) consider the character's thoughts and feelings
c) show you understand those thoughts and feelings
d) explain how those thoughts and feelings were transmitted to you
e) consider author's craft and DIDLS (diction, imagery, details, language, syntax)
f) consider HOW + WHAT = WHY

NOTE: While this on-going assignment IS in technology-land, that does NOT mean you can use TEXT speak: ie, please do not refer to Govinda as Siddhartha's BFF or call him "Govi" or tell your friend "ILY" at the end of the post.

For inspiration! :) Listen While you Write Your Blog! :)
